Update

It has been almost 4 months since Fiona's amputation and she is doing great! She's more playful and happy than she was 6 months ago. I guess not being in pain anymore will do that! She still seems a bit unstable balancing on her one hind leg, but she doesn't let that slow her down. Sometimes I even forget that she is a tripawd.

We eventually got the results of Fiona's bone test and it turns out the tumor was cancerous. We had the option of starting her on cancer treatment, but since all her scans prior to the amputation were clear and the tumor was localized to her leg, we decided to wait and see if the cancer came back somewhere else.

I recently took her to the vet for her annual check up and to get all her vaccines current. Due to her being a "cancer patient" she only received her rabies vaccine, as the vet didn't want to overload her immune system. We also scheduled her for a chest x-ray to see if there was any more cancer hiding. Since we had opted not to do any radiation or chemo, I was a little nervous about this x-ray, but it turns out that everything was clear. Fiona is cancer free! She will have to continue regular chest x-rays, but other than that, she is good to go! Her next appointment is right before we leave to go back to the USA.

We also enrolled Triton in a dog training class in hopes to correct some behaviors and work on impulse control. I'll post his progress on here as well.
